Due to weather conditions, the RRC headquarters at the William B. Travis Building and the Alternative Fuels Division Promontory Point location in Austin will be closed, Tuesday, January 27. Open Meeting

The Railroad Commission of Texas has canceled its January 27 Open Meeting due to weather conditions. The meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 5, 2026, 9:30–10:30 AM 

Injection Storage Manual

This manual is to be used for informational and instructional purposes only and is not to be regarded as a detailed study of underground injection practices and procedures.

The intent of this manual is to outline the basic compliance and reporting requirements to be met by oil and gas operators engaged in underground injection operations. Operators should consult the appropriate rules for more specific or detailed information. In addition, the staff of the Railroad Commission is available to answer questions and provide assistance. 

The Railroad Commission has Primacy Enforcement Authority for the Underground Injection Control (UIC) program for Class II wells and Class III brine mining wells. This manual’s contents can be accessed through the links below.
