RRC Launches Lonestar For Schedule A Authorized Pits Online Registration
July 09, 2026The Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) plans to launch the Railroad Commission State Tracking and Reporting (LoneSTAR) portal for Schedule A authorized pits registration on July 13, 2026. Beginning on this date, operators will be able to register all Schedule A authorized pits, including changes and closures, through the online system. The registration system will not require RRC staff approval. An authorized pit will be successfully registered upon the submittal of complete and correct information.
Organizations already registered in LoneSTAR should contact their LoneSTAR delegated Security Administrator to have the appropriate EP1 submitter rights assigned.
Organizations that are not registered in LoneSTAR must register for an online RRC Access Management Process (RAMP) account. A RAMP account provides a single set of sign-in credentials for multiple RRC applications. For more information about RAMP, see the RAMP information page.

If you have any questions about registering Schedule A authorized pits online, please visit the LoneSTAR booth at the RRC Regulatory Conference, July 13–15, 2026. Environmental Permitting and Support Unit staff will be available to answer questions and provide guidance throughout the conference.
The RRC will continue to accept email filings of Form EP-1 to register Schedule A authorized pits until September 1, 2026. Organizations are encouraged to use the online registration system for efficient, timely registration.
Please note that registrations filed between June 15 and July 13, 2026, may be delayed processing due to LoneSTAR application testing and launch. The RRC will consider complete applications received during this period to be registered.
