Report No Damage Non-Compliance

RECURSOS EN ESPAÑOL

Anyone planning to dig, excavate, or otherwise move earth deeper than 16 inches is required by Texas law to call 811 before beginning a project to have underground utilities marked. To best ensure there is no damage to underground utilities, we recommend calling 811 prior to any project that involves digging, regardless of depth.

The Pipeline Damage Prevention rules, Title 16 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 18 outline requirements for pipeline operators and persons engaged in or preparing to engage in the movement of earth in the vicinity of an underground pipeline, including smaller lines like service lines. Penalties for violations of the Chapter 18 begin at $1,000 per violation.
