Pipeline Mapping Information

The Texas Pipeline Mapping System (TPMS) is continuously updated using digital data or hard copy maps provided to the Commission by the pipeline operators.  The pipeline permitting process requires that operators provide maps of the pipelines included under each permit.  Pipeline maps, whether submitted digitally or in hard copy format, should include all active, inactive and abandoned lines that are not removed from the ground.  (Inactive lines are maintained but not currently in use.  Abandoned lines are not used and not maintained.)  It is important that abandoned lines that are still in the ground be mapped because of the safety related issues and public awareness of the presence of these lines.
