STATEWIDE RULE 28 REVISION CHANGE IN POTENTIAL TEST INFORMATION REQUIRED ON FORM G-1 AND ELIMINATION OF THE BACK PRESSURE CURVE REQUIREMENT

As part of the Commission’s ongoing Regulatory Reform Initiative to simplify required filings, Statewide Rule 28(a), Potential and Deliverability of Gas Wells to be Ascertained and Reported, has been amended effective February 28, 2000 as follows:

"The information necessary to determine the absolute daily open flow potential of each producing associated or non-associated gas well shall be ascertained, and a report shall be filed as required on the appropriate Commission form …"

Effective April 1, 2000, operators of most gas wells will no longer be required to furnish calculated field data and pressure calculations reported on the Form G-1 and the back pressure curve. Only the basic data will be required.

In certain cases, some calculations may still be requested by Commission staff. For example, a calculated shut in bottom hole pressure may be necessary to assign an initial allowable in certain types of gas fields.

Please consult the Form G-1 example printed on the reverse side for those areas which will, generally, no longer have to be completed. You may direct any questions concerning this rule change to the Oil & Gas Division’s Production Services section at 512-463-6742.
