On-Time Filing of Monthly Production Reports

NOTICE TO OIL AND GAS WELL OPERATORS, Oil and Gas Gatherers, Oil and Gas Purchasers

On-Time Filing of Monthly Production Reports
P-1 and P-2 monthly production reports are due in the Commission’s
Austin Office no later than the last day of the month following
the month of production being reported.
Statewide Rules 54 and 58

Operators are reminded of the provisions of Statewide Rule 54 and Statewide Rule 58 requiring monthly production to be reported in a timely fashion. The P-1, Producer’s Monthly Report of Oil Wells (Oil and Casinghead Gas), and the P-2, Producer’s Monthly Report of Gas Wells (Gas Well Gas and Condensate), are to be in the Commission’s Austin office no later than the last day of the month following the month of production being reported on the form. For gas wells, this includes production from all fields, regardless of status.

Filing by the due date ensures operators of on-time processing of the production information and prompt assignment of proper allowables. The Commission’s computer production database is sensitive to the timely filing of production reports for the proper calculation of well capabilities, allowable assignments, and accurate statistics.

In the event the oil lease or gas well operator relies on the purchaser or gatherer for production data, it is critical that the gatherer or purchaser provide that data to the operator as soon as practicable after the first day of the month following the production month. This will enable the operator to prepare the production reports and file them by the prescribed due dates.

The deadline applies to both paper report filings and electronic report filings.

Failure to file production reports in a timely manner may adversely affect allowables and necessitate Commission enforcement action.
